What’s New in Pipedrive (Q2–Q3 2026): AI Integrations, WhatsApp, and Outfunnel

The last two quarters have been some of the busiest in Pipedrive’s recent history. Between April and August 2026, Pipedrive shipped its own AI connectivity layer, absorbed one of its most popular Marketplace apps, and rolled out native WhatsApp support — all while continuing to build out Projects, Automations, and Activities. Here’s a full rundown of what changed, month by month.

Projects Got a Major Upgrade

Projects saw more investment than almost any other part of the platform this window.

On May 26, 2026, Pipedrive released a major Projects update that added AI-generated project briefs — a feature that automatically pulls commitments, notes, and files from the sales history into a ready-to-review handoff document (a human still reviews it before it goes out). The same release brought Projects Insights, interactive Gantt timelines, and a mobile version of Projects.

Earlier in April, Pipedrive added post-sale performance reporting inside Insights, a Projects app for Android, better linking between projects and deals, and bulk actions in the Projects list view. May also brought advanced custom field settings for Projects — grouping, required fields, field-level permissions, and pipeline-based visibility — mirroring how deals already worked. In June, a new “Project tasks” entry point appeared inside the Activities list view, letting teams manage project tasks alongside regular sales activities.

For context: back in March, Pipedrive had already added task-level automation inside Projects along with import/export support. Projects remains included in Premium and Ultimate plans, and is available as a paid add-on on Lite and Growth.

Activities Became More Configurable

In July 2026, Pipedrive gave admins the ability to customize activity fields and capture sales outcomes. Admins can now configure which fields are visible or required per activity type, and can make fields like Outcome, Priority, or Note mandatory before an activity is marked done — useful for sharper reporting and coaching.

Automations Kept Improving

Automations saw a steady stream of updates across the quarter. April brought automatic failure alerts with auto-deactivation safeguards, so broken automations don’t keep running silently. May introduced a “Trust and Visibility” dashboard for monitoring workflow health, along with proactive frequency-limit warnings and protections against accidentally deleting connected configurations like custom fields or webhooks.

In July, Pipedrive added copy-and-paste steps in the automation canvas and the ability to preview email templates directly inside automation actions. A “coming soon” feature will let automated emails send from the automation owner, the deal or account owner, the triggering user, or a connected Team Inbox — giving more control over how automated communication looks to recipients.

Settings and Admin Updates

June brought a smaller but useful admin feature: the ability to copy access settings from another team member, which speeds up onboarding by cloning permission sets and default visibility. Admins also gained the ability to toggle visibility of hidden activities and notes in detail views.

No Pricing Changes, But Two New Data Centres

Pipedrive’s plan structure stayed the same this window — four tiers (Lite, Growth, Premium, and Ultimate), with AI features bundled into every plan at no extra cost, as has been the case since the 2025 pricing restructure.

What did change was infrastructure. On May 7, 2026, Pipedrive launched a new data centre in Sydney, built on AWS infrastructure, cutting latency for Australian customers by up to 60% and enabling local data residency. Australia is reportedly now Pipedrive’s seventh-largest market. CPTO Joe Futty commented on the strategy: “We are not just expanding globally; we are localising intentionally.”

A second expansion followed on May 13, with a new Montreal data centre hosted on AWS’s Canada (Central) region. Per Pipedrive’s press release, the move “reduces round-trip latency by approximately 15% as customer data is moved from the United States to Canada,” giving Canadian customers local data residency. Pipedrive now operates seven hosting regions worldwide: Sydney, Montreal, Frankfurt, Dublin, London, and two US regions.

Pipedrive Now Talks to AI Assistants Directly

The single biggest theme of the quarter was AI connectivity — not just AI features inside Pipedrive, but Pipedrive becoming reachable from outside AI tools entirely.

On June 30, 2026, Pipedrive launched its own native MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, letting users query and update live CRM data using natural language from ChatGPT, Claude, or any other MCP-compatible assistant. It’s available on every plan, sets up through OAuth with no coding required, and respects existing user permissions — every action still shows up in the change log. Usage draws from the same token-budget system Pipedrive already uses for API calls, with additional tokens purchasable if needed.

On August 18, the connector became available directly inside Claude’s official app marketplace, cutting setup down to a single click. Pipedrive reported strong early adoption: more than 6% of its paying customer base connected within the first month, with roughly two-thirds of interactions being reads and one-third writes or updates. The company also noted that leads can now be retrieved, created, and updated through any connected LLM.

A week before that, on June 4, Pipedrive was named part of OpenAI’s new Codex Sales Plugin — a role-specific AI toolkit that brings CRM context into workflows like meeting prep and reporting. Kristjan Elias, Pipedrive’s Senior Director of Engineering, put it this way: “The next evolution of sales software isn’t simply about adding more AI. Rather, it’s about making knowledge more accessible in the moments when people need it most.”

Beyond these new integrations, Pipedrive’s existing AI suite — the AI Sales Assistant, AI-assisted reporting, AI import assistant, and AI-powered Marketplace search — remains in place across plans, with AI email creation, notifications, and summarization features reserved for Premium and Ultimate.

WhatsApp Is Now Native

After years of relying on third-party connectors, Pipedrive introduced a native, first-party WhatsApp integration, announced as part of the May 26 release. It’s currently in open beta, available on the Growth plan and above. Per Pipedrive’s own support documentation: “The WhatsApp integration is available on the Growth plan and above. It is still a beta feature, and it’s not available to all customers yet. You also need global admin permissions to complete the setup.”

Once connected, WhatsApp messages link automatically to deals, contacts, and leads, with support for templates and automated workflows. Setup requires a Facebook Account, a Facebook Business Portfolio, and a WhatsApp Business Account. The feature reappeared on Pipedrive’s product-updates page again in July, suggesting availability is broadening as the beta continues.

An Important Deadline for Automation Users

If your Pipedrive setup connects to Make.com, this affects you directly. Following Pipedrive’s API v1 deprecation, Make released updated v2 versions of all its Pipedrive modules. Scenarios still running on the older v1 modules continued working only until July 31, 2026 — after that date, they stop functioning, and new scenarios can no longer use the deprecated modules at all. Make has also phased out API-token connections in favor of Pipedrive’s OAuth authentication.

If you haven’t checked your Pipedrive-connected Make scenarios recently, it’s worth doing so now.

Pipedrive Acquired Outfunnel

On August 5, 2026, Pipedrive acquired Outfunnel, the highest-rated app on its own Marketplace. Outfunnel connects sales and marketing data, syncing Pipedrive with tools like Mailchimp and Klaviyo, and has served more than 500 businesses. Outfunnel was originally founded in Estonia in 2018 by Andrus Purde, Markus Leming, and Andris Reinman.

Pipedrive’s CEO, Paulo Cunha, explained the reasoning behind the deal: “A CRM that doesn’t connect with your marketing tools is only solving half the problem… By bringing Outfunnel directly into Pipedrive, we’re removing that burden and making connected sales and marketing a seamless part of the core experience.” Pipedrive plans to rebuild Outfunnel’s core capabilities natively into the CRM over the coming months. In the meantime, Outfunnel continues operating as normal, with no immediate disruption for existing users.

Recognition

Rounding out the quarter, Pipedrive was named Best Sales CRM in the 2026 CRMmys Awards on June 19, 2026.

Final Thoughts

Looking at the last two quarters together, the direction is clear: Pipedrive is positioning itself as an AI-native CRM, one that’s reachable from wherever salespeople are already working — not just from inside the CRM itself. At the same time, the Outfunnel acquisition and native WhatsApp rollout show Pipedrive bringing previously third-party functionality in-house.

If you’re running Pipedrive today, it’s a good moment to check whether your setup — automations, integrations, and AI usage — reflects what’s actually available now.

At eXpanby, we help growing sales teams get the most out of Pipedrive, from implementation to ongoing optimization as the platform evolves. If any of these updates raise questions about your own setup, we’re happy to talk it through.
